2. What are the supplies my 3rd grader needs?
There is a link to the list supplies. I will use all of these supplies, but
students in the other section may need additional supplies not listed on
this list.

3. How will I know if my child is paying attention in class or is a
behavior problem?
A letter to be signed will be sent home with your child when the need
arises. If necessary, a conference can be scheduled. See the Rules area
for information about how our classroom is structured.

4. Ms. Julie, how do you figure out my child's grades each term?
Basically, I add the total points your child has earned divide by the
number of points possible. Visit the Grading Information page of this site
for more information.

5. Is there a weekly newsletter to keep me informed of tests, projects,
etc.?
There is no newsletter sent each week. Your child will have a weekly
homework calendar in their binder as well as a monthly calendar showing
upcoming tests or projects. The students will fill in both of these during
class time when asked to do so. Please be sure to keep each until we take
them out in the classroom at the appropriate times.

6. My child's grades sometimes fall below my expectations. Can
he/she receive extra credit to bring grades up?
Many parents throughout the year, especially near the end of each nine
weeks, ask about extra credit when their child's grades drop. Individual
extra credit is not given. I do not feel it is fair to offer such work to one
student and not offer the same to the rest of the students in my class. I do
occasionally give extra credit opportunities to the class as a whole.

7. What do I need to do to schedule a conference with you?
There are a couple ways to schedule a conference. You can contact me
via letter to school with your child or by sending an
E-mail to me. You can
also contact the office if necessary. I hold most conferences prior to the
start of the school day at 7:30 or during morning break (P.E.), though if
needed I can meet at another available break time during the school day.
No conferences are held after school hours.

8. I have a question about something. Can I call you at home to ask?
I do no give out my phone number. If you have a question, please E-mail
me, contact another parent, or send a letter to me at school. Generally I
send a response back via E-mail or letter home with your child because it
can be difficult for me to have adequate time for phone calls during the
school day.

9. When is graded work sent home for me to review?
Test paper folders are sent home every Monday. Papers are stapled
together and a cover letter requires your signature. All papers should be
returned in the test folder and should remain stapled. I keep them on file
at school for reference.

10. My child is having a hard time completing notes in class. Do you
provide copies of class work on your website for parents to view?
I understand some students take longer to copy notes in class, but I give
the most amount of class time I can for students to finish. If necessary,
students can complete assignments during recess or P.E. time. I will make
notes available each week as part of the Weekly Plans page.  This is
designed for students who are absent from school to have access to the
notes for at home copying.

11. Can I send treats for the class if my child's birthday is during
school?
Students above 1st grade are not allowed to have birthday parties in
classrooms. If your child is having a party at home and would like to send
out invitations, please have your child pass them out before the
beginning of the school day.

12. I need my child to bring home a book to study during the week. Is
this something my child can do? Can you give my child a reminder
to bring a certain book home at pack up time?
Your child may bring home any book at any time during the week or even
over a weekend. However, I do not give individual reminders about those
extra books. I remind the entire class when we pack up which books are
needed for the assigned homework that night. You may consider
obtaining copies of the textbooks via amazon.com or other book sellers.
Just use the ISBN on the back of the book to ensure you have the right
edition.
