All About Ms. Julie
Education:
False River Academy graduate (attended K through 12th grade)
Bachelor's degree in Education from Louisiana State University

Experience:
The 2010-2011 school year will begin my 11th year of teaching, my 10th
teaching 3rd grade. I have also taught 5th grade.

What interests me?
I love LSU women's basketball! I go to just about every home game and I try
to attend the SEC tournament, too.  I enjoy playing computer games,
working on crafts, and playing with my  calico cat Zoey.

My thoughts on 3rd grade...
Third grade is a big transition year for an elementary student and for
parents. Classwork is done with textbooks rather than in consumable
workbooks. More studying at home becomes necessary because the
information covered is more detailed and requires daily review. More is
also expected of students in their ability to work independently with less
direct teacher involvement.

My goals for 3rd grade...
I want my students to become more responsible for their education. Little by
little, I hope they understand how to study independently and think more for
themselves all the while becoming prepared for 4th grade. Becoming more
experienced readers is also something I stress. My large classroom library
allows me to introduce students to a variety of genres and help them
progress from picture books to those all important chapter books.
